Last weekend Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and the Maidstone Area Patients Support Group had a fantastic day out at Chessington World of Adventures . Twenty – seven children with Type 1 and their parents, siblings and friends joined the staff for a great day out.
They all headed to the park early , then met for lunch , before disbanding again to go on the rides and left the park at 5.30pm.
So many parents made new friends and discussed how Type 1 diabetes has affected their lives , sharing their thoughts with others was really helpful. The children also made new friends and were comparing the technology they use.
The team were really surprised to find that the helpful staff member from Chessington who assisted the group through security and helped access the fast pass rides was also a Type 1 Diabetic.
Everyone had a fantastic day out and thanked the Paula Carr Diabetes Trust for their support with funding the coach travel.
